A New Chapter

                   My Family....
I have not said much about my family
                      on here before....

          My 3 sons.....
(hate this pic of me, but love it of the boys )

And they are married to 3 lovely girls

The one in the middle of this pic
                      is our oldest, Michael.
Michael is such an interesting guy....
He is an engineer for his real job....
BUT has so many, many hobbies
                   & they are all extreme

Yes, look closely, that is him kayaking,
                  over a large waterfall... Yikes!!

Kiteboarding in Mexico

He does extreme skiing & snowboarding
He buys & sells tractors &
boats for a hobby.
He & his wife have lived in Mexico for a year,
they went to Africa a few yrs. ago, for a month,
just to kayak the world's biggest river. They have hiked all over.

He does hunting & fishing in a big way.

                    He seriously never sits still

Picture above... Michael & Carrie in London.
Middle of the night, in a London airport, on the way to Hungary... a few hours to kill.... don't waste them in an airport... go see something... : )

( I had to take a pic for him in front of Jerry Garcia's home in San Fransisco :)

Michael was burned pretty bad last week
He was riding & tinkering with a seadoo & it exploded
flames 10 -12 ft. in the air...
He will be OK..... but burns on his arms & face
look pretty nasty right now

(on again... after the accident...How many times do I have to say,
 "Michael, be careful" ?? :  )

Anyways.... why I tell you a little about Michael??

He will be the father of our 1st Grandchild.. : )
Yes.....
Michael & Carrie told us a few weeks ago

And we could not be more thrilled.... : )

  3. Oh- I do hope he slows down when the baby is born. He needs to be around a long time to raise this perfect new soul. What a blessing- It is amazing what a difference a grandchild will make in YOUR life too. You will never be the same and your heart is not your own once that baby is born- xo Diana

  4. Hi Kathy
This is my 1st visit to your blog. When I saw that you were in the North and read your profile I saw that we had many things in common so I had to become a follower.
I 1st want to commend you for your many years working with the youth. It takes a special person to do this and it means so... much in the lives of many children that are living in less than loving homes.
And congrats on the news of the little blessing your family is expecting. You have a handsome family and quite a adventurous son. I'm glad to hear he's going to recover from this recent accident.
I look forward to checking back and visiting you again!
    Blessings-Kimberly

  5. Congratulations on your coming grandchild! I hope your son takes it a little bit easier not that he's going to be a dad. So sorry about his accident, I'm assuming he's doing well since he's up and at 'em again.

  6. How very exciting. I have so much to say here I don't know where to begin. Get ready for a llllllllllooooooonnnnnngggg comment. :)

As I looked at the first picture I thought what a good looking family and such a pretty mama. I don't know why you don't like yourself in the photo.
When I saw the second photo I thought, hmmm, three married and no babies. It won't be long. :)

So when I read the last paragraph I got goosebumps. We don't have any grandchildren yet but our daughter has been married for three years now. So far, though, they say they aren't ready. We can wait. All in good time.
Our two youngest are boys and not married. I kind of hope they aren't the first to bring us this news. :)

Thank you so much for your heartwarming and oh so flattering comment on my raspberry pink commode. I was dubious at first but it has been well received and it was nice to have that affirmation. I can't wait to see more posts on your lake house. That is my husband's next goal and decorating a lake house is definitely on my bucket list.

Congrats again. and by the way, you look way too young to be a grandparent. I lie now and say the kids are Mike's by a first marriage. I think you should do the same. Hehe
    Hugs of joy,
    Pam

  13. Enjoyed reading about & seeing your family. Hope your son is recovering from the burns. I know the feeling of being the "mama", along with the concerns and worries having two boys of my own. :) What exciting news about the grandbaby.

  14. Okay Ms K,
I came over here to thank you for the head swelling comment you left for me over at BeColorful and to see what you've been up. Nothing has been showing up in my e-mail from Gone North. Now I see why. No new posts! So I'm hoping everything is good with you and that you just have a much busier and important schedule that I do. :0
How many baby things have you bought so far? Excited for all of you.

  15. Again, where have you been? You left yet another comment on my foyer and library rugs and I wanted to see what is going on in your world but sadly still no new post. Hope everything is okay.

The library rug that you asked about was a total steal. I bought it on Overstock.com. It is all wool, unbelievable lush and soft and $300 for an 8x10 rug seemed to be a total bargain. Thanks for your sweet reinforcement. :)

  17. That's so exciting for you. A new baby on the way is always a cause for celebration. I love how adventurous your son and his wife are. Once the baby comes he will probably take a few less risks...it becomes less worth it once you have kids.

  19. Oh my goodness, that is scary about your son's accident, thank goodness he is going to be okay, especially with that new little one on the way! And thanks for your sweet comment on my blog. We used the Cabinet Transformations kit by Rustoleum and we picked the color Seaside, which is a lovely blue/gray color. I have not regretted the color a single second. Can't wait to see what you have in store for your cottage!
